Chemistry Australia welcomes the release of the new Circular Advantage Report and its recommendations to the Federal Minister for the Environment, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP.
Chemistry Australia Director Circular Economy and Future Industries Peter Bury said the $48 billion chemistry industry also welcomes the introduction of Australia’s Circular Economy Framework.
“The Circular Advantage Report and Circular Economy Framework provide a valuable blueprint for Australia’s transition to a circular economy,” said Mr Bury.
“The development of these two detailed reports will help mobilise circular economy innovation in Australia, fostering greater collaboration between governments, industry, academia, and communities.”
“The release of a common national framework for circularity is our sector’s number one policy recommendation to accelerate the adoption of a circular economy.
“We believe this will assist industries to unlock greater innovation and take advantage of Australia’s unique market opportunities.
“Our members are committed to enabling and accelerating a circular economy and are already making significant investments in this area.
“We have the advantage of already supplying inputs to the four priority sectors identified in the report – industry, the built environment, food and agriculture, and resources – and therefore, can continue working with Australian businesses to amplify circularity efforts across the economy.
“Members were very pleased to have the opportunity to contribute their experience of driving innovation in plastics circularity to the development of the Circular Advantage Report.
“We look forward to working with all stakeholders to further promote circularity throughout the Australian economy.”
