Chemistry Australia and Jobsbank shine a spotlight on Diversity and Inclusion at 2024 Industry Awards

19 February 2024

Chemistry Australia has teamed up with Jobsbank to highlight successful workplace diversity initiatives in the Australian chemistry industry.

Chemistry Australia has introduced a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award as part of its second annual Industry Awards taking place in Melbourne on Wednesday 1 May.

The Award will celebrate the work of Chemistry Australia members to champion diversity in their workplace and foster inclusion at all levels of their organisation.

Chemistry Australia encourages its members who have made meaningful improvements to workplace culture, the diversity and composition of its leadership, or the diversity of its employment to submit a nomination for the award.

Chemistry Australia CEO Samantha Read said the new award is a fantastic opportunity for the industry to highlight its commitment to increase representation of women and diverse groups in senior leadership roles and create more inclusive pathways for the next generation of leaders.

“The new award reflects the genuine intent of our industry’s leaders and our Board to foster greater diversity, which we see as a critical investment in the future of our sector,” said Ms Read.

“We are proud to partner with Platinum Sponsor Jobsbank on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award, which aligns with our ongoing work to promote the development of women in STEM and support our industry’s future leaders.”

Jobsbank CEO Dr Karina Davis said her organisation is thrilled to be a part of Chemistry Australia’s celebration of industry excellence and is eager to learn more about the companies in the field of chemistry that are driving change in equity, diversity, and inclusion.

"Our organisations and values are aligned; we are both future focused and committed to supporting best practice in business,” said Dr Davis.

“We are thrilled that this year Chemistry Australia is taking the awards a step further with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Award, which we are very proud to sponsor."

Jobsbank partners with business for positive social outcomes and works with industry to increase diversity, equity, and inclusive employment capability.

Sponsored by Jobsbank, the new Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award will be one of five awards announced at the 2024 Industry Awards on Wednesday 1 May. These include:

  • Net Zero Transition award
  • Circular Economy award
  • Health, Safety and Environment award, and
  • Young Leader Award

Members of Chemistry Australia are invited to submit their nominations for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion award by Wednesday 12 March at the following link: caiawards.com.au
