Chemistry Australia CEO Samantha Read to step down

Following more than 12 years of dedicated service to the industry, Chemistry Australia CEO, Samantha Read, will step down as CEO, effective 31st January 2026.

The Chemistry Australia Board has commenced the process of appointing a new CEO.

Over her tenure, Samantha has made a significant contribution to the policy and regulatory landscape, with her leadership through the reforms to industrial chemical management in Australia, and contribution across industry, energy, circular economy and other areas of policy impacting investment in Australian businesses.

Samantha led the Association’s advocacy during the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting members and providing expertise on the industry’s vital role in Australia’s pandemic response and supply chains.

Samantha oversaw the transition from the Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association (PACIA) to Chemistry Australia and led the development of several new partnerships with domestic and international industry associations.

More recently, Samantha has championed the development of the next generation of industry leaders, through the inception of the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council (ELAC) and annual Chemistry Australia & CEW Woman Leader in STEM scholarship, and introduced the Chemistry Australia Industry Awards, now in its fourth year.

The Chemistry Australia Board thanks Samantha for her commitment and dedication to members and the work of the Association and wishes her the very best for her future endeavours.
