Chemistry Australia invites members and industry colleagues to take part in two clean up events in Melbourne and Sydney in October.
Operation Clean Sweep, together with members Dow and Viva Energy, and NGO partner Tangaroa Blue Foundation, will join forces to help keep our environment clean, create awareness, and drive action to prevent plastic waste from getting into our waterways and oceans.
These events bring together the global campaigns #PullingOurWeight and The Great Nurdle Hunt, highlighting the industry’s role in preventing plastic waste from entering our waterways and oceans.
The details are:
Melbourne
Patterson River Ramp, Carrum, 3197
Tuesday 28 October
9.30am – 11.30am
Sydney
Kyeemagh Beach Carpark, Brighton Le-Sands
Thursday 30 October
9.30am – 11.30am
Both events will feature guest speakers, a Nurdle Hunt, a general clean-up, and time for networking. The Sydney event will be co-hosted with the NSW Environment Protection Authority (NSW EPA).
Past clean-ups have seen fantastic participation from industry members, Chemistry Australia, the EPA, and community partners. This year, we invite your team to be part of the effort once again. Together, we can identify sources of plastic pollution and resin pellet loss, and explore practical ways to reduce plastic feedstock escaping through industry supply chains.
To register your team, email with your chosen location and the number of participants prior to Wednesday 22 October.
We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne or Sydney, and encourage you to invite other industry colleagues to join these important events.
