Chemistry Australia Board and Emerging Leaders networking dinner

20 June 2024

Earlier this week, the Chemistry Australia Board, members, and special guests joined new and graduating members of the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council (ELAC) at a special networking dinner in Melbourne.

The Deputy Leader of the Opposition, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, delivered a keynote address, which noted the Deputy Leader’s views on economic, energy, and skills policy. Ms Lee invited members to share their ideas on how to increase the number of students learning STEM subjects and pursuing science-based careers.

Guest speaker Linda Bracken of Board Matters delighted guests with her leadership insights and anecdotes from her extensive career in the media industry, including her 30-year career at the ABC.

Graduating ELAC participants Emma Rijs, Jason Thompson and Kathryn McDonald summarised their experiences of ELAC with a special address at the end of the evening.

Chemistry Australia congratulates all 2022-24 ELAC participants for completing the 2-year program and welcomes its new 2024-26 cohort to the exciting program of personal and professional development ahead.
