Member Health and Safety Forums - October 2017

Our series of Member Forums on Health and Safety brought together executives, managers and technical staff across our membership to discuss and share ideas for further improvement in health and safety thinking.

The Forums were held in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth in March and April 2017.

Each Forum included a special interactive ‘hypothetical’ workshop session led by our event partner, Herbert Smith Freehills, focussing on new and emerging issues that need to be managed in the workplace including workplace bullying, employee mental health, dealing with contractors, and drug and alcohol testing.

Additional guest speakers and topic presentations provided examples of leading practice, and new insights into management of risks around hazardous goods and manufacturing processes including:

  • Review of the industry's annual Health and Safety Performance Report
  • Mental health in the workplace
  • A recap of your liabilities under Chain of Responsibility
  • Regulatory and legislative updates
  • Member case studies: best practice in health and safety management

In addition, attendees enjoyed networking with peers and presenters over a light lunch and during afternoon tea.

Chemistry Australia members can download the Forum presentations and resources here.
