PACIA Appoints New CEO - 16 December 2013

The Chairman of the Plastics and Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA), Sam Bastounas, today announced the appointment of Ms Samantha Read as the Association’s new CEO.

Samantha was previously CEO of the Biofuels Association of Australia and joins PACIA following a diverse career including senior executive and Board roles in the Australian steel, automotive and biofuels industries. Samantha is also a former Board member of the automotive industry’s peak body, the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

In welcoming the appointment today, PACIA Chairman Sam Bastounas said, “We are delighted to have Samantha join the PACIA team and look forward to her leadership of the industry to build and promote a vibrant market sector”.

Samantha is a passionate advocate for maintaining an Australian manufacturing industry, which provides skilled employment, technology and innovation, vital to a diversified economy.

Samantha holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Samantha’s appointment will take effect on Monday 13 January 2014. “Please join me in welcoming Samantha to the PACIA team and I trust you will provide her with your full support as she transitions into this role.”

The PACIA Board would also like to acknowledge the hard work of outgoing CEO, Margaret Donnan. “We thank her for her leadership of the industry over the last six years and wish her every success in future”, said Sam Bastounas.
